I actually never really paid a lot of attention to Oculus, because it was one of those hyped-up movies that in many cases fail to amaze. I did have it on my to-watch-list for quite some time though and I finally gave it a watch. I had no idea what Oculus was about at that time, never saw a trailer, didn't read the synopsis either, so you can say I started watching the movie with no expectations at all. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with Oculus in the end. There were a few confusing parts, but overall it was a very good ghost/supernatural movie.

The twenty-one year-old Timothy Allen Russell is discharged from a mental institution by his psychiatric Dr. Graham completely healed from a childhood trauma. His sister Kaylie welcomes him in the parking area and brings him home. Then she tells that they need to destroy an ancient mirror that she has just bought in an auction. The reluctant Tim follows his sister and has fragmented recollections from his childhood, when his mother Marie buys a mirror for the home office of his father Alan. Kaylie and Tim see a woman with their father in his office and the behaviors of Alan and Marie change, ending in a family tragedy. Kaylie blames the mirror and now she wants to destroy it with Tim. Will they succeed?

The story has a very good build-up, during the movie we get to see fragments of their childhood and their trauma with this specific mirror. Because their past is being told during the entire movie it keeps an interesting perspective on the movie, it keeps it interesting to watch. If it would've been told all in once it would make the main story of the present day kinda boring actually, so did was a great thing to keep people curious.

The power of this mirror is that it can make you see things that aren't there, so it's a great psychological horror movie. This gives a huge uneasy feeling because you never know if anything is really happening or if it's just some game the mirror plays. I must admit that when I noticed this was going to be about a haunted mirror I wasn't too excited about it, but honestly Oculus did a great job making it somewhat scary and original.

The acting is pretty good in Oculus. Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy, Dr. Who) plays Kaylie and I was quite impressed with her. Already saw her once in Guardians of the Galaxy (for which she shaved all her hair off!) and I think she's going to be a big star sometimes. Brenthon Thwaites (Maleficent, The Giver) plays Kylie's younger brother Tim and he did a great job as well. Most impressive though was their father played by Rory Cochrane (Argo), he played his role as uncaring/distant father extremely well, you could almost feel the tension, amazing.

Oculus was a very surprising good movie. Great acting, good tensive scenes and it's just an exciting watch overall. There was just one thing that I did not get which is why they took so long to attack the mirror, because they knew that the longer they would be with it, the crazier things would get. So that's pretty much my only objection to Oculus. I had a great time watching this movie, and I definitely recommend to watch it as well.

The ABC's of Death 2 (2014)

Finally time to watch The ABC's of Death 2. Wasn't specifically crazy about the first part but I do like the concept of 26 different segments, each one even more crazy than the one before that. I must say that I liked this movie less than the previous one. In the previous one there were quite a number of segments I liked, from this one there were only two very good segments.
There are 26 segments and I will write a little something about each letter, with my rating given too.

A is for Amateur
This one was actually quite funny. First we see an awesome serial killer killing some gang, and it's all going perfectly, but that was just the plan for the killing. Then it's time for the killer to actually get to the job, and everything goes wrong to the point where he dies. Eventually though, his body is found in the air-filtration system which somehow leads to the point where the gang still gets killed.

B is for Badger
Another one that was slightly funny. It's about some camera crew filming a documentary about pollution that killed the badgers. But, instead of dead they rather turned into badger-mutants. Which leads to quite a funny situation.

C is for Capital Punishment
Not bad, it gives a pretty good picture of how wrong a wrong accusation can go. It was a bit too much  exaggerated with the head chopping of though. Not bad, nothing special either.

D is for Deloused 
And we're back to what The ABC's of Death is best known about: it's the 'what the fuck' segments. Deloused is what it starts with, a stop-motion animation about... well I have no fucking clue what it was about. Is was about bugs and an even bigger bug with a huge anus or mouth that sucked up stuff. And then it disappeared into a galaxy of his anus where it got eaten? No seriously, I really had no idea what the hell was going on.

E is for Equilibrium
Best name for this segment would be 'Bro's before ho's'. Nice segment about two guys living in peace together on an island, until the moment a woman arrives. Things are starting to get messy between the guys and well, the woman pretty much forces one to kill the other. Shots fired and..... It was a simple, fresh and nice segment.

F is for Falling
The first one in this movie that was more serious. It was nice though, to have a change from the murdering and weirdness. It was more about a political situation, that turned out different from what I've expected. It was a good segment, with a powerful message and some excellent acting. I liked it.

G is for Granddad 
Oh well, this was just.. weird. Nasty as well. Some punk lives with his granddad who has been sleeping inside the same bed with him each night, hearing him complain and masturbate every night. Then he kills him. Really nasty, nothing special either.

H is for Head Games
I'm not a fan of these short movies, the animation is fairly simple and there's not really a story behind the animation. Well, it's of course about something, because when two people kiss everything is becoming weird but I didn't really see something meaningful behind this segment.
My rate: 3/10

I is for Invincible
About a family that's killing a family member because of her in-heritage. This doesn't work very well though, so they continue to try and kill her shamelessly. Of course, a weird segment, but it was somewhat amusing I must admit. The ending was gross though.
My rate: 5/10

J is for Jesus
Powerful segment about homosexuality. It was very short, but interesting I think. Good use of gore and make-up.
My rate: 6,5/10

K is for Knell
Oh I liked this one. Although there was a great missed chance for a jump-scare, it was very well made. I don't have a clue what 'Knell' means, but it definitely was a good segment. Some black liquid is turning everyone is a murderer, which leads to some nice scary scenes. This was a very nice segment.
My rate: 7,5/10

L is for Legacy
Aaaaaand, we're back to the weird! Badly weird I must add, no idea why this segment was included because it's just terrible. It makes no sense whatsoever, and the so-called creature is not even Syfy channel worthy.
My rate: 1/10

M is for Masticate
For the letter 'M' there was a contest where people could say which segment they liked best, and Masticate was chosen for this. I haven't seen the other segments made for 'M' so unfortunately I can't decide if this really was the best choice. Masticate however was shot entirely in slow-motion which was pretty awesome looking, and of course very fitting since it contained a zombie theme. It was quite funny, nothing special though.

N is for Nexus
Not a memorable segment, but a good one nevertheless. It's a bit comparable with the movie 'Crash' where all kinds of different people encounter each other because of circumstances. This is of course the short version of it, and it was kinda powerful and interesting. Sad as well.

O is for Ochlocracy 
A fresh vision on the zombie genre is always welcome, and this was what Ochlocracy brought us. A woman is being sentenced to death by people who once were zombies. They still slightly are zombies, but vaccinations are bringing them back to conscious. This is a Japanese segment and at first I was afraid this might turn out to be as last 'ABC's of Death' segment 'F is for Fart', but it actually turned out quite decent. Still some weird touches added to it though, but well, what else can we expect....

P is for P-P-P-P-Scary!
You would almost think that the letter 'P' is too difficult to actually combine to an actual word because P-P-P-P-Scary really does not make any sense as a title. It's fitting for the story though, since that's not making any sense either. I am convinced this was filmed with a macbook's application called 'Photobooth' because that's how simplistic the effects looked.

Q is for Questionnaire
A man is taking an IQ test on the street and his outcome is positive that his brains are being transferred to a gorilla. Yes, you read that right, to a gorilla. This segment was nothing special, and didn't look very good either.

R is for Roulette
Perhaps my favorite segment of this movie, it's a black and white short about two men and a woman playing russian roulette in a basement. One of the men knows that the next bullet is going to be for him, instead of killing himself he kills the woman, which happens to be his wife. At that moment the door of the basement is broken down and people are storming in (probably nazi's). The man killed his wife to keep her away from the bad guys. Very simple, yet a very powerful segment. Loved it.

S is for Split
Another good segment. It's about a home invasion with a very twisted outcome. It was simple, but brutal as well.

T is for Torture Porn
Torture Porn is a short made by the Soska Sisters, who are known for American Mary. I think this is like the real life version of weird Japanese Hentai, where tentacles take part in some private business. It was not a bad segment though, the woman was treated horribly by the men, and she took some nice revenge ;).

U is for Utopia
An interesting segment, about an "ugly" man walking through some sort of futuristic building, when he knocks over a post he is being executed at the spot while being singled out by perfect looking people. When the deed is done, they clap and resume their business. It was a very interesting segment, with a subject that would fit good as well in a full movie. It was good looking and acted quite well.

V is for Vacation
Found-footage movie, of course there had to be one of them in ABC's of Death 2. It was pretty well done, not the most interesting subject but it was filmed nicely and the acting was pretty good. Quite a decent segment.

W is for Wish
Weird, weirder, weirdest? A more fitting title for this segment I think. Some people liked it, but I was just not a fan of Wish-man and his weird adventures.

X is for Xylophone
A familiar face in the form of Inside's Beatrice Dalle. A very unethical, disturbing segment which could be a sequel to Inside. Shocking it was, pretty awesome though ;D.

Y is for Youth
We're back with the weird! A girl fantasizes about the death of her parents, in very weird ways. Giant penises show up, monsters show up, and all killing her parents very brutally... It was funny because it was just too weird to take this seriously.

Z is for Zygote
Okay, Zygote was bizarre, but it had an interesting touch to it. A woman is left by her husband while she's pregnant, because she's afraid that her baby will leave her as well, she just refuses to give birth. With as result --> 13 years later, a very big "baby" is still in mommy's belly, but the kid really wants to come out. In a very messed up way.... I must say that I liked this one, it was weird but one an interesting level.

All together, it was a weird experience once again watching an ABC's of Death movie. This time as well there was booze involved, which really is needed to watch this movie since some things are just really too weird to watch sober. I didn't like it as much as the previous one, with that said, I wasn't a big fan of the first movie either ;p. My favorite segment was Roulette, please let me know yours :D.

I came across this movie and when I read the back of the DVD-cover it seemed like a very interesting movie. Playing in the Catacombs of Paris, and made by the same director as the not uninteresting movie Devil, I thought this might be an awesome movie. I was a bit bummed out to see that it was a found-footage movie, not because I hate found footage movies, but because the last couple ones I've seen were terrible. But I must admit that it was a reasonable movie.

Here's what As Above, So Below is about:
Miles of twisting catacombs lie beneath the streets of Paris, the eternal home to countless souls. When a team of explorers ventures into the uncharted maze of bones, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead. A journey into madness and terror, As Above, So Below reaches deep into the human psyche to reveal the personal demons that come back to haunt us all.

I thought it was an amazingly interesting setting, the Catacombs of Paris are very spooky and it's a great scenery for a horror movie. It's also very cool that this was the first movie that was actually allowed to film in a small part of the Catacombs. I must admit that the story of the movie wasn't always too original and at times it was just plain weird but the atmosphere was just amazing which is of course very important as well. It was very claustrophobic.

As Above, So Below is in my opinion a mix between Grave Encounters and The Descent, perhaps even a touch of Indiana Jones. Many people didn't like Grave Encounters but I must admit that I thought it was a reasonable movie, although it was weird sometimes. This was even more so the case with Grave Encounters 2, it was weird and just too weird at moments. These weird elements were also in As Above, So Below and sometimes it was a bit too much, going into a room and ending up in the same room you just came from is not logical, I don't like stuff like that. I find demons, hell and stuff like that more logical than ending up in the same room again. On the other hand, it was also a bit like The Descent which is a very good movie in my opinion. The claustrophobic feeling was captured just right, just like they did in The Descent.

The movie is somewhat predictable, the roof collapsing when the last person is going through is of course not very special. The acting was pretty good but I would've liked to see a bit more character development. The characters weren't written very good I think, at some moments the French people spoke English to each other, which is of course a bit unlikely. I thought that the character La Toupe was pretty awesome, he was very creepy and great for the movie. He reminded me of that YouTube video 'Salad Fingers' :D.

I think As Above, So Below is a reasonable movie. It's very weird at moments and sometimes a bit too much Grave Encounters-like but it also has a great and interesting story, the entire trip itself is for a fascinating reason already, but the characters needing to overcome their past was a great addition as well. Great location and good acting. Unfortunately a bit too many plotholes, there were just too many unanswered questions. Overall, a decent movie.

Charmed [Season 1-8]

It took awhile, but I've finally finished all the Charmed episodes. When I was young I already watched a lot of them on television, but I missed a lot of episodes back then. All the Charmed episodes are on Netflix, and I had a great time watching them all over again. Small fun fact: I was such a big fan of Charmed when I was younger that I made a tiny offline website through Microsoft FrontPage (I think it was FrontPage), since FrontPage was discontinued in 2003 I couldn't have been older than 10 years old when I did this :'), even back then I didn't have a life :P. Charmed is often being compared to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, mainly because it was being aired around the same time (Charmed ran from 1998-2006, while Buffy ran from 1997-2003).

As you might know, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is of course mainly about vampires and sometimes demons. Charmed is more focusing on witchcraft and demons. Personally I enjoyed watching Buffy more than watching Charmed, this is because Buffy contained a few outstanding episodes and it was interesting almost every episode, while in Charmed there were only a few excellent episodes and some episodes were pretty boring. Perhaps it isn't right to compare the two shows, I think it's more of a personal habit since I grew up with both shows.

First a bit about the characters.
Prue Halliwell: The oldest Halliwell sister, played by Shannen Doherty. At first I wasn't a big fan of her, her character seemed very bitchy and she was no fun at all. Even though I wasn't a big fan of her at first, she somewhat grew on me. I was actually a bit sad when she died, even though I knew all along that she wouldn't survive the ending of season 3. I think her character reflected Shannen Doherty herself a bit too much, since she was written out of the show after season 3. It was pretty obvious that her contract stopped, because often when family members of the Halliwell's die, they are able to being summoned back as a ghost. But after Prue's death we never saw her again, not even as a ghost. Even in flashbacks she was being cut out. That's something which is a bit of a shame, since it would seem logical that you would see her once or twice again after the third season. I wouldn't say that Shannen Doherty played the role bad, if Prue really was that bitchy she did a great job. I'm just saying that she didn't seem like a nice person at all.

Piper Halliwell: At first the middle Halliwell sister, but the oldest sister after Prue's death. Piper is being played by Holly Marie Combs and in the first three seasons she was definitely my favorite. At first she was a bit insecure and cute, but still pretty fun. After Prue's death her character became a lot more serious. Also, the relationship problems with Leo became somewhat boring after awhile, but this is more about a change of writing, which I will come back to later. Holly Marie Combs is a great choice for Piper, in the first three seasons she portrayed the role of insecure person very good. After season 4 her character became more independent, she became a businesswoman and a mother, and she still played very convincing. Loved her.

Phoebe Halliwell: The youngest sister at first, but after Prue's death she became the middle sister. Phoebe is being played by Alyssa Milano and her character is definitely the most fun one. She's daring and adventurous but serious at times as well. It's not just her character that was fun, her entire appearance was nice. Unlike Piper she changed her hair every season, which made her a bit less predictable compared to Piper. What was predictable though is that Phoebe was always the one that turned evil or turned into something different, it just became annoying in the end. Alyssa Milano was a great choice for Phoebe, I think she is a decent actress and it's sad we don't really see her often anymore in other shows or movies.

Paige Matthews: The youngest (half-)sister of the Halliwell sisters. She is being played by Rose McGowan. At first I thought it would be impossible to make it logical that there was another sister out there, but it actually fitted the story very well. In season 2 or 3 there was an episode about their mother who had a relationship with their whitelighter, with as result that in season 4 there was an option open for where the half-child came from. Paige's character is a lot like Phoebe I think, although I don't think that she was ever really fully appreciated in the family. Rose McGowan is a great actress and I liked her a lot as Paige, although her character was pretty standard after awhile. She's always making sarcastic jokes and well, eventually it just became predictable.

Other big characters include Leo (played by Brian Krause), Darryl Morris (played by Dorian Gregory) and Cole Turner (played by Julian McMahon). Darryl was season 1-7, but for some reason he wasn't important enough anymore to appear in the last episode. Pretty stupid really since he played a big part in previous seasons.

I already quickly mentioned the change in writing after a few seasons, this happened because Constance M. Burge (the Executive Producer of Charmed) stopped writing the episodes. At first the focus was on the witch heritage and the sisterly ties, but when Brad Kern took ofter that part the focus became more and more about sexy outfits and relationship problems. It's pretty sad actually that this happened because I think that that change made this show 'just another one of those relationship shows'. It became pretty annoying after a while that Piper and Leo again have relationship problems, again breaking up and coming back together and again are arguing about nothing. Also, Phoebe's boyfriend Cole was a pretty amazing character at first but then they made him evil again, and then good again, and then evil again. So standard and predictable. Phoebe's search for love was pretty lame as well, especially since it was suddenly very hasty that she met someone and married at the end of the show.

Even though I wasn't the biggest fan of Prue's character, I thought the first three seasons were the most fun ones. Not just because of the writing problems, but also because things weren't as predictable in those seasons. It was just fun and simple. The fourth and fifth season was pretty good as well. From the sixth season though the show became a bit boring sometimes, also there's this big thing going on with Avatars and Leo and it's just confusing after a while. The last season shouldn't have happened in my opinion, the Charmed Ones are in hiding at first and they have changed their appearances for the outside world. Thing is, as if demons wouldn't think it's strange that again three sisters/cousins and a husband/male character moved into that same house. A bit unbelievable. Adding up the Billie/Christy part, not a good season at all.

In most cases the last episode of a show is the most amazing one, and while I wouldn't say the episode was bad, it was just way too sudden. The entire season they have this Billie character who found her evil sister, Billie became evil and suddenly they're the most powerful creatures on that planet. Then everybody dies and then everybody lives again and suddenly everyone lives happily ever after. They shouldn't have done all of that in one episode, the build-up could've been much better.

I thought Charmed was a fun show to watch. The special effects aren't very good and not every episode is interesting, but still I had fun watching all eight seasons. It's somewhat comparable with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, although Buffy is definitely better. It's not a great show but if you're out of things to watch, go give Charmed a chance :).

Carrie (2013)

For those who've read many of my reviews know that I'm not a big fan of 'old' movies. Maybe because I grew up in the time of remakes, I don't know. This is of course not the case with every old movie. I did  liked the original movie of Carrie a lot, and for the first time ever I watched the original movie before the remake. I don't do this on purpose, it's just often that the remakes are being released and I end up watching them before I watch the original. Globally speaking, remakes aren't much appreciated, even though there are a few very good ones around, dare I say it - some are better than the original. However, this is not the case with the newest Carrie movie. At least, not in my opinion. 

There's not a whole lot bad to say about the Carrie remake though, simply because it's almost an exact copy of the original. In my opinion, remakes are good when they have something to offer that's better. For example, The Hills Have Eyes is an amazing remake. The reason why it's a great movie is because the savages are looking way scarier compared to the original, it's not just a more modern version, it's really an update compared to the original. Same thing with Dawn of the Dead, the original is nice and stuff, but in my opinion the zombies don't look very scary. In the remake they are made really gross and  scary, which haves a much bigger effect on the viewers. The story is also changed a bit, perhaps not the greatest change, but the one who made it apparently thought it needed a change. Back to the subject, in Carrie there's no big changes, no update what so ever. The only big difference is that the shameful moment of Carrie in the shower is being posted online, that's it. In my opinion, it's a bit of a useless remake.

Because it's an useless remake doesn't mean it's a bad remake. It's a decent movie, but because it doesn't offer nothing new it's just literally an exact copy of the first Carrie movie. The deaths are slightly different, there's an useless pregnancy involved, the annoying spinning scene isn't copied and there's some use of social networking, these small changes just don't need an entirely new movie, I think.

Now, back to the actual movie quality. I think Chloe Moretz is an amazing young actress, who played in quite a few horror movies already (Let Me In, The Eye, Amityville Horror). I don't mind seeing her in horror movies though, she was great in every one of them. I must admit though that I wasn't entirely convinced with her playing Carrie White. Her insecurity seemed a bit over-the-top, making it less convincing. Also, I think she's way to pretty to play such an odd girl, especially compared to Sissy Spacek who has a bit of an odd look, making her much more believable. Julianne Moore as the mother wasn't a bad choice, she somehow seemed a bit less crazy compared to Piper Laurie.

There were a few casting choices who weren't a good choice at all. For example, Gabriella Wilde as Sue Snell and Ansel Elgort as Tommy Ross. They were totally unbelievable as a couple who would feel for Carry, since they both look like the biggest assholes themselves. They were just one of those typical American High-school movies lovers who love to bully, instead of helping them. This is of course pretty much based on their looks, I just didn't like them as Sue Snell and Tommy Ross. The girl who played Chris Hargensen (Portia Doubleday) was the worst actress ever by the way, she wasn't convincing at all, terrible casting choice as well. 

The supernatural powers of Carrie are used a lot more in this movie, personally I liked this a bit more since in the original Carrie movie there wasn't much focus on her powers. The death scene of Chris was also fucking brutal, something that was a cool addition to this movie as well compared with the original. 

Every time when you've watched some original version of a movie and the remake you can't help but compare the two, I know that this review is a lot of comparing, but well, all I want to say with it is that I personally liked the first Carrie better. Perhaps when I had first watched the remake and after that the original my thought would be entirely different, but of course I can't check that. Carrie is a nice movie, but I wouldn't call it great. For the better Carrie experience I would recommend watching the original.

Review: V/H/S/2 (2013)

I must admit that I wasn't very interested in watching V/H/S/2 because I didn't like the first part that much. It wasn't a bad movie or anything, but it was just not really what I expected. The sequel is a lot better I think, the segments are a lot better I think. 

Searching for a missing student, two private investigators break into his house and find collection of VHS tapes. Viewing the horrific contents of each cassette, they realize there may be dark motives behind the student's dark disappearance.

In the first V/H/S movie there are a lot of moments that remind you of other movies, such as Grave Encounters, The Tapes and the Last Exorcism. In this part I didn't see a lot of moments that looked a lot like other movies, which is a good thing because that means these segments are a lot more original. Of course, a zombie movie isn't very original, but the way they filmed it is. There were a lot more nice twists in this movie. 

The acting in these segments was overall better compared with the first movie. Perhaps the acting in the segment Phase I Clinical Trials by the girl wasn't much good, but I think that's the only person that I was slightly annoyed about. 

In V/H/S/2 the 'main tape' is Tape 49, this is the main storyline and this is the one that we return to after each segment. The second segment is Phase I Clinical Trials, the third segments is A Ride in the Park, the fourth segment is Safe Haven and the last segment is Slumber Party Alien Abduction. It's hard to say which one I liked best, since they all had positive and negative moments. The one that I didn't like a whole lot was Tape 49. Here's a quick overview of the segments!

1. Tape 49

Like I already said, not my favorite one. It's of course the same set-up as the first movie, which makes it a bit predictable. I thought it was kinda boring, in the previous movie it wasn't good either but at least we saw a lot of things happen in the background and stuff. This one just tried to live up to that, and it didn't turned kinda boring and predictable. By the way, something that I noticed and I just have to mention; why the fuck is everything that attacks screaming first? It's getting a bit ridiculous. 

2. Phase I Clinical Trials

This one started out pretty interesting. I thought it was pretty cool that the guy had eyes that could film and record. Sure, it's a bit weird and far-fetched but it looked very cool. It's like a modern twist on The Eye or something. I already mentioned that I wasn't crazy about the actress, she didn't act well and her role was pretty random and just a way to give the information the viewer needed. Other than that, she was pretty rubbish, as character and actress. The scares are very standard and very predictable. There is no chance you would ever get scared by one of these 'jump-scares' because every one that has seen at least one horror movie knows what to expect. 

3. A Ride in the Park

This one was pretty cool actually. It's a segment about zombies, but it was a pretty cool approach. This is because the biker that got attacked by zombies had a camera attached to his helmet. It's pretty much a segment about the short life of a zombie, only more awesome. We didn't literally watch the guy himself, since the camera was on top of his helmet, but it was pretty easy to guess what was going on. It was pretty cool when he was eating the guts out of someone, and we watched this from his view. The effects are gross looking, meaning they looked awesome. Good job on those! Also, loved it when he started to recognize himself somehow, and managed to do something about it. I think if I had to choose I would say that this segment was my favorite segment, it was really good! One downside though, I thought it was pretty unlikely that someone managed to get ahold of the footage from the other cameras and edit it in at the right time. A bit of a bummer that one.

4. Safe Haven

I'm not really sure what to think of this one. It was kinda awesome, the storyline was very interesting and stuff, but it was kinda confusing at moments. The segment starts off very slow, and in the end everything goes incredibly fast. A bit too fast in my opinion, things got just too confusing. There's definitely a whole lot going on in this segment, from demons to zombies, mass suicide and even hints to raped children. I think the makers of this segment tried to put in as much action as possible, which could be a good thing if done right, but I just can't make up my mind what to think of it. It had some pretty cool moments though. The creature looked very fake unfortunately. I also was surprised by how conveniently the camera fell every time, and how nicely the editing was done for a found-footage movie. I mean, there are even security cameras included in this footage, which seems a bit too far-fetched.

5. Slumber Party Alien Abduction

At first I thought this one was my favorite, but the ending dramatically changed that. It looks pretty cool at first, because a camera is attached to a dogs collar or something, which gives an interesting view. This segment is pretty messy but I liked it a lot at first, it was very tensive and I could only hope that these kids would manage to escape from the aliens. But then the ending came..... the kids were abducted eventually, and at first their dogs is going with them up in the air. But then they let go of him, and we see the camera drop to the ground, with the dog lying next to it. Probably dead. It was absolutely the uncoolest ending ever, and it made me hate this segment. Moviemakers, please know that no one will like your movie if you kill animals in it, period. 

V/H/S/2 is definitely a lot better than the first movie V/H/S. It's a lot more original and the segments are a lot more fun to watch. I'm actually looking forward again to the sequel of this movie, because of course there will be another sequel. It was a fun movie to watch, it was surprising especially compared with the first movie.

Review: Carrie (1976)

I think this might be the first time that I saw the original movie before the remake, or at least, it's the first time I notice it. I haven't seen the remake yet, but I do know that I liked this version a lot. It's quite rare to say something like that in my case, because I often tend to like remakes as well. 

The movie starts of very VERY nude, like BAM boobs and bush everywhere, I think it's to keep the males interested in the movie ;) (not that it needs anything like that). Anyway, I thought it was remarkable because it's not something you see a whole lot in 'older' movies, at least not in large numbers like in Carrie. 

I wasn't familiar with Sissy Spacek before seeing Carrie and I thought she was the perfect choice for playing Carrie. At first they considered Amy Irving (she plays Sue) for the role of Carrie, and I think she definitely would've been a wrong choice as Carrie. I mainly think this because Amy Irving is quite pretty, while Sissy Spacek is a bit odd looking. It wouldn't have been a logical choice. 

I think Sissy Spacek performed amazingly in this movie, I couldn't be more convinced by an actor. The first scene I immediately liked her, her reaction to her first menstruation is just incredibly real looking. 

Another familiar face in this movie is John Travolta, who doesn't play a very big part. It's fun to see him that young, but I just don't like him a whole lot as an actor. But he performed OK in Carrie. 

The longer I think about Carrie, the more I start to like it. I mean, the acting is incredible. Not only by Sissy Spacek, but also by Piper Laurie who plays Carrie's mother. Damn, I wanted to punch that woman so hard because she really was a bit too religious. But I think that says a lot about the performance that she gave, because if I want to punch her, it means she's convincing. Fun fact: Piper Laurie thought Carrie was a comedy movie. 

There were a few things in the movie that I was annoyed about, one of them being the dancing scene at the prom. It takes way too long and the camera spinning around really made me dizzy. Also, the slow-motion is a bit overdone, some parts just take way too long. But I guess this is just a typical 70's way of moviemaking hype. 

I am a big fan of books written by Stephen King and I do own the book Carrie, but I still haven't read it, stupidly enough. I am very curious about it now though, and I think it won't take long for me to pick it up now. I also still need to watch the remake, I'm also very curious about the new take on Carrie. 

I really liked Carrie. I felt so sorry for Carrie this entire movie, brilliant performances of all the actors in it. It's rare that I empathize this much with a character. Also the special effects are pretty good, perhaps the times when things happened the moment was exaggerated (by slow motion for example), but the special effects were definitely not exaggerated. Great movie.

Review: Misfits [Season 2]

So I just finished watching Misfits season 2 for the second time. I've been planning to write about it for such a long time already, but I never got around doing it. But now I've watched it for the second time I figured it might be time to write this review.

Those who read my first review know that I loved the first season. I'm an absolute big fan of this show ever since first watching it. It's refreshing, it has great humor and even though most characters are kinda dicks, you'll get to like them after awhile. Their superpower somehow represents their character so that's kinda nice.

Perhaps a bit of a spoiler, but if you're interested in know the main characters powers then please read further.

In short; Simon can get invisible, he's a very shy boy and often feels ignored.

Kelly is always worried of what people might think of her, her power is hearing other people's thoughts. 

Curtis is always regretting his past and has the ability to travel back in time to reconsider bad choices. 

Alisha likes attention and her 'power' is that everyone who touches her wants to have sex with her (or rape her in some cases). Lamest power ever?

We finally discover what Nathan's power is after his brutal end in season 1.... yes, the guy is immortal. And believe me, he will need it in season 2. 

I won't discuss each episode since I don't really see the use in it (even though there are only 7 episodes), but my favorite episodes are episode 1 and 6. Mainly because there are so many things going on in there, they're pretty awesome. 

My least favorite episode was the seventh episode, the Christmas special. It's the one were Nathan finds a girl and acts all stupid and disappears from the show. So unfortunately he doesn't show up again for season 3. I liked season 3 but it was not really the same without him. I liked the replacement guy Rudy as well, but he was very different and it made the third season not as good as the first two seasons.

(After season 3 I didn't continue watching any further because all the main characters disappeared and it became really lame). Anyway, I will write about season 3 shortly as well, since I almost finished watching it (again).

Another thing that I didn't like as much -again, spoilers-, was the time traveling Simon. I like time traveling things but if you start thinking about it nothing is right anymore. It's such a confusing thing. And when you finally think you've figured everything out, you'll figure out that you're still wrong. Time traveling is just to confusing to make it right. 

Misfits isn't a very typical show. It's brutal in many ways and it contains very strong language. It shows everything it wants and that makes it absolutely awesome. it's funny, refreshing, tensive and good. It really is a great show. Unfortunately this was the last amazing season with Nathan, after that everything changed a lot :(. Still, first two season were amazing.

Review: The Nightmare Room

A while ago I bought a DVD from The Nightmare Room, unfortunately only 4 episodes are on this DVD so I can only review 4 episodes. I bought this because I've read all R.L. Stine books, including the Nightmare Room ones. I really loved his books when I was younger, to be honest, I still like them. I've never watched any of the Nightmare Room episodes until today and unfortunately they weren't as good as Goosebumps, still enjoyable though to see some of your favorite childhood books on TV.

This won't be a long review, since I've only seen four episodes of The Nightmare Room, perhaps someday I'll search the other episodes and I'll update this post. Will let you know of course when that time comes.

The Nightmare room is definitely not very good, but neither was Goosebumps when you watch it when you're older. It's enjoyable to see once, but the quality is just not very good. The Nightmare Rooms has a few actors in them that are quite big(ger) actors now, always fun to see them as young kids. 

My Name is Evil:

On good natured Morgan's birthday, he and his friends go to a carnival where he is made a fool of by his pretty classmate Kristin... and declared evil by a fortune-teller. The next day, when his friend Jason is revealed to be going out with Kristin instead and she says she asked him before Morgan asked her, Morgan is angry and feels his arm itching just before Jason has an accident, and Kristin gets Jason to believe Morgan was responsible. The same thing happens when Jason sinks through the ground after beating him at track-team tryouts, but Kristin turns every students, even his and Jason's friend Justin, against Morgan. The fortune-teller reveals how the whole thing started innocently, but Morgan seems to have grown an uncontrollable power to lash out at other with, at the cost of others' trust.

I enjoyed this episode the most of the four I watched. It was also my favorite Nightmare Room book when I was younger. Many things changed when switching to television unfortunately. In the books for example the main character is a girl whose best friends are triplets. In the TV show the main character is  a guy whose friends are just a few random guys.

Overall it was much like the book, besides small changes. It was a fun episode but I was a bit bothered by all the slow motion and overacting in it. Especially the main character tried too hard to look innocent, it became a bit annoying after awhile.

Another fun thing was seeing Kaley Cuoco as the bitch girl in it, she was still very young back then but she was the only one who acted reasonably. A bit strange actually, since she's a bit annoying in The Big Bang Theory as an actress.
Still, I liked this episode the most. 

Scareful What You Wish For:

With his sister going off to college, Dylan is moving into her old room and packing away all his toys from over the years. Then he is approached by a mysterious younger boy who calls himself Buddy and acts as if Dylan already knows him... and appears responsible for his best friend's being slipped an allergen in his sandwich. Buddy looks and sounds exactly like Dylan's old doll Buddy. The doll continues to approach and torment Dylan, not accepting that this part of Dylan's life won't include him.

Also a fairly good episode, with a young Shia LaBeouf in the lead role. Honestly, I think this is his best performance to date. I movies like Transformers and Disturbia he was also a bit annoying and I never found him really good at acting, but truly, he's quite good in Scareful What You Wish For!

This episode is a lot like Child's Play actually, at least in terms of what the dolls says. Instead of "Hi, I'm Chucky! Wanna play?", he says "Hi, I'm Buddy, I'm your best friend!" Or something like that. The similarity sure is scary. Luckily, Buddy isn't a real living doll. Not in terms of murdering and walking around and stuff at least. No he's a real human who looks like the doll, and talks like the doll. But while  he is wandering around, the doll still lies in the box. Meaning, he didn't transform or anything.

The buddy person is played by Dylan and Cole Sprouse, also known from The Suit life of Zack and Cody. Quite scary fellows when they're younger. Another familiar face is Tania Raymonde (Lost, Texas Chainsaw 3D)

The ending was very good, another likable episode of The Nightmare Room!

Tangled Web

Josh is always lying to get himself out of trouble, but when he tells the substitute math teacher unfamiliar with his excuses that his homework was stolen by unique robbers along with his entertainment system, Mr. Farber seems to believe him. From here on strange things start to happen to Josh..

The books title is 'Liar, Liar' and I was really curious about how they were going to turn it into an episode, but unfortunately they changed a lot from the book. The episode wasn't bad, but it was just a bit boring at times. They should've followed the book in my opinion.

At many points it was just too over-the-top that made it boring at moments. There were only a few things that I liked about this episode, being: David Carradine (Kill Bill), Justin Berfield (Malcolm in the Middle) and the clown masks. The clown masks were actually the scariest thing I've seen in The Nightmare Room, which is a good thing!

Overall, it was a boring episode. Such a shame they didn't follow the book :(.

Fear Games:

6 youngsters go to an abandoned island for a reality TV show, but weird stories are roaming around them...

Most boring episode I've seen this evening. Strangely enough, it has a 7,3 on IMDb. The ending was the biggest disappointment ever. Fear Games isn't taken from a Nightmare Room book I believe, at least I can't remember reading it.

The acting was just plain terrible. My dog can give better performances than this bunch of 'actors'. The story was boring as well. It reminded me a lot of Wrong Turn 2, which is also a terrible movie. Most Nightmare Room episodes end with a twist, but this one was very dull and ended all good and well, not the ending I was hoping for.

I actually don't have much to say about it, besides that it was terrible. Only nice thing in it was the cameo of Tippi Hedren (The Birds).

Overall, The Nightmare Room was very nostalgic. I liked a few episodes, others not so. Perhaps in the future I'll make a bigger post about my favorite R.L. Stine books and stuff. They're rather interesting!

Review: Trick 'r Treat (2007)

I finally got my hands on a copy of Trick 'r Treat. While it's not a very scary movie, I did enjoy it at most times. The movie evolves around one night were different stories come together, comparable with Pulp Fiction. The most impressing thing about this movie are the incredible costumes. 

Five interwoven stories that occur on the same block, on the same night. A couple finds what happens when they blow a jack o' lantern out before midnight, a high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer, a college virgin might have met the right guy for her, a group of mean teens play a prank that they take too far, and a hermit is visited by a special trick or treater.

The 'story' that I loved most was the one with the disabled children in the school bus. It was heart breaking but done incredibly well. The costumes of these children were scary and even though it was a short story, it definitely is my favorite one. 

Dylan Baker's segment was also very funny, especially his conversations with his neighbor and his child are hilarious. 

The most mysterious character in the movie is the boy with the pumpkin costume. He's in every segment, but we don't actually know why. At one point there's given a slight reason which seemed acceptable, but it didn't really fit with the other segments. I liked this mysterious boy a lot at first, his costume is creepy as hell and I hoped for a bigger story about him, but unfortunately that didn't happen. Also, the moment his masks falls off, I was really disappointed by his looks. It was definitely not what I expected and in my opinion they could have made it more scary with him being more 'normal'. 

While almost everything looked very awesome and real I was slightly disappointed by the Werewolf's. They looked very fake and actually very lame.

I actually don't have a whole lot to say about this movie. I liked it the movie as a whole, it's definitely a good Halloween movie. Some segments were better than others, but like I already said, overall it's a good movie. There are many different segments that all lead to each other one way or another. It's a very varying movie which keeps it fun to watch. The timeline might be confusing at times, but I think you'll figure it out by the end of the movie. The acting is good, the stories are good. Special effects aren't much special, but not particularly bad either.

Review: Buffy the Vampire Slayer [Season 4-7]

It has been quite some time since my last Buffy the Vampire Slayer review, in fact, the first one was uploaded exactly an year ago. The reason why I never wrote a review about the others seasons was because I didn't own all of them on DVD, after I owned season 1-3, I received season 7, after that 6 and after that 5. But it took an incredibly long time to find season 4 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. 

Of course, they were out there online but not in the right DVD case. Every Buffy DVD I own is a Collectors Edition, and it would be a first world problem if the middle season wasn't that same case (I'm absolutely not picky). 

But anyway, last month I finished watching every season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I thought it would be time to start writing about it!

Also, Sarah Michelle Gellar's birthday was yesterday (it's on the same day as mine :)) so happy birthday SMG aka Buffy!

I've loved this show since I was little, but at that time I hadn't seen every episode yet, because the times that they aired constantly changed. In my last review I wrote about each character, but after the third season a lot changed. Cordelia Chase (played by Charisma Carpenter) isn't in the show anymore and Angel (played by David Boreanaz) isn't a regular anymore as well. My favorite character Oz also disappears shortly after the beginning of season 4.

New regulars were Anya (played by Emma Caulfield), Dawn (played by Michelle Trachtenberg) at the end of season 4 and Tara Maclay (played by Amber Benson). Spike (played by James Marsters) also became a regular to the show.

I liked season 4-7, but they weren't as good as the first three seasons. Things became a bit more confusing, especially since Buffy suddenly gained a little sister. At first everything was like she was always there, but in season 5 or 6 things about Dawn's appearance got explained. It was clear that she wasn't a real person and stuff, but when they started talking about 'her being a key', it became slightly confusing.

A whole lot of people die in these seasons, it sure was a whole lot darker compared to the previous seasons.

The highest rated episode on IMDB was 'Once More With Feeling' (season 6, episode 7), which was a musical episode. Personally I dislike musicals and singing and stuff, so it wasn't one of my favorite episodes. It did explain a lot though, especially about Buffy's feelings. It also was incredibly original, even though I hate musicals, I enjoyed the episode.

 My favorite episode was 'Hush' (season 4, episode 10), the second best rated episode on IMDB. It was just brilliant because nothing is said in this episode. It's incredibly difficult to make an episode good without saying a word. Not only was it brilliant because nothing was said, these 'gentleman' were actually scary as hell.

Other good episodes were The Gift (season 5, episode 22) and especially The Body (season 5, episode 16). This is the one where an important person dies, and it's absolutely heartbreaking.
There were lots of other good episodes, such as the very last one. It's simply too much to describe them all, but these are my person favorite ones.
(How stupid do I sound when I say that I get goosebumps even thinking about a few of these awesome episodes?)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an amazing show and I recommend that everyone should watch it. It contains many supernatural elements besides vampires. Each episode is a new surprise. Things are very different in the new seasons, a lot of dark things happened. I already mentioned that I liked the first three seasons best,  but I mostly mean that I like the first three seasons as a whole. Season 4-7 has more amazing individual episodes, so they are awesome as well.
It's a great surprising show and I truly enjoyed watching all the seven seasons.

Review: American Horror Story: Coven [Season 3]

The third American Horror Story review! I already mentioned in my previous review what I thought of this season, but for those who didn't read it: I liked it quite a bit. It wasn't as good as the first season, but with that being said, I liked it a lot more than the second season.
There wasn't as much going on as the first two seasons, and perhaps that they could have made it more interesting, but it definitely was a lot better than the second season, since there was just too much going on in it. The amount of things going on in the first season was actually just right, it was a lot, but everything that happened was explained, something that season 2 missed.

Again, great actors in this season. Of course there's a whole lot Jessica Lange in it again, but that doesn't mind because she's simply an amazing actress. Sarah Paulson is back too, this time with a bigger role and in my opinion, a very interesting role. Evan Peters is also back, this time in a small role unfortunately, but hey, he's in it, so it's something! Taissa Farmiga is also back, again as a very lovable character. New this season is Kathy Bates, our queen from Misery, more bitter than ever.

The most interesting role was Kathy Bates' one. We see her in the 1800's (?), as a racist woman, who tortures black people and uses them for slavery. She was given some sort of immortality potion, and afterwards she is buried in the ground. Fiona (Jessica Lange) digs her up which leads to funny moments where Kathy Bates' character is adjusting to this modern world. Most surprising to her is the fact that the president is black, which makes her cry in front of the "magic box" (or as we call it, the TV).

The season was quite good. It's set in the modern age, so a lot of influence by modern technology. But there are also flashbacks to the 1800's (again ?), which is of course an immense difference. As I already said, this leads to funny Kathy Bates moments.
The subject of this season are witches and their covens. In theory an interesting subject, but at times it was a bit boring. There's a whole lot of arguing about who the next supreme is, and this many woman in one house can't do anything else than lead to huge fights. These fights are funny, but again, it becomes a bit boring sometimes since they fight a lot with each other. Basically, every one is a bitch.

American Horror Story is most familiar for it's weird creatures, but in this season there weren't a whole lot. There were zombies, a creepy butler, and some bull-man but besides that, it was quite mild.

My favorite episode was probably the last one, but then again I wasn't completely satisfied with this 'magical' ending of Coven. I expected a bit more action in the last episode of the season, but it was all very simple and it was all a bit too easy. Nevertheless, I liked it a lot, the things happening were kinda fast, so it was not as if they tried to make it the biggest mystery ever who the supreme was. We found out fairly quickly, so that's a good thing. The supreme self wasn't much of a surprise, perhaps a little bit, but it was fairly predictable that this person would show up with more powers.

Coven was a good season in my opinion, but it was also a bit boring. I missed these 'weird AHS' things, like strange creatures and plot twists.  I did liked this season better than the second one though, since season 2 seemed way too random to me. Unfortunately, in my opinion there isn't a season yet better than the first one. Perhaps we can have big hopes for the fourth season, there are stories going around about a Circus, german accents and special talents, so who knows what we might expect!

Review: Misfits (Season 1)

Last week I started watching Misfits, I had no idea what it was about and I always thought that it was about some random kids doing bad things, so I was kinda surprised that it was actually kinda supernatural. Maybe this review isn't very fitting for a horror blog, but hey, it's is a bit supernatural and I really liked this show. Sure, it is about kids doing bad things, but they do have superpowers! How cool is that?

So, I was very surprised when watching this because it was absolutely not what I expected. It really is a good show, it has it's drama, it has it's supernatural stuff and it has it's comedic side. For me it was a very good combination. It has the typical British humor and personally I loved it. 

While the characters are actually a bit scumbags, they start to grow on you. You start caring for them, how strangely it may seem when you first start watching this show. 

I've just finished season 2, so I'll write a review about that too Luckily there are only 6-8 episodes in a season, so it doesn't take as long as watching Lost for example (around 25 episodes each season). 

So a bit about the characters:

Nathan Young: Played by Robert Sheehan. How I hated this guy in the beginning, he was such a cunt and super annoying. But like I said, they start to grow on you, as is it with Nathan. I think that Robert Sheehan is a very good choice for playing Nathan. He just has the right looks and his acting is very convincing. His ability became known quite late, but it is quite a cool one. His ability is that he is immortal, and believe me when I say that he needed it quite a lot.

Alisha Daniels: Played by Antonia Thomas. Another character that started to grow on me, she too was an incredible bitch in the beginning, but I must say that her character became a lot softer after awhile. Antonia Thomas plays her character quite well, she can play both soft and bitchy very convincing so that's a good thing. Her ability is very lame though, if she touches a man he wants to have sex with her. Yeah well, very helpful.. 

Kelly Bailey: Played by Lauren Socha. Excellent casting if you ask me. If you only see her you can't help but think that she's trash. And when she starts to talk everything you thought about her gets confirmed. Amazing acting (or isn't it acted?). But she too get's to be a lot softer after awhile. Her superpower is that she can hear thoughts of everyone. Quite useful, but in my opinion it's isn't used a whole lot.

Simon Bellamy: Played by Iwan Rheon. Personally he is my favorite, he is incredibly adorable and shy and again, he is casted perfectly. I previously saw him as Ramsay Snow in season 3 of Game of Thrones, so this was quite a character switch. I already liked him since the very first episode, and that only grew a whole lot, so I guess I'm a new fan of Iwan. He can be invisible which is quite awesome and useful. It's also something that really fits his character since he is very shy and a bit introvert. 

Curtis Donovan: Played by Nathan Stewart-Jarrett. Not sure what to think of him. He seems okay and he stayed okay through entire season 1 and 2. I don't find him very interesting though. His acting is very good and I can imagine him being the same in real life as he is in character. His ability is to rewind back time. Quite useful but we don't see a whole lot of it unfortunately. He did manage to save everyone a few times though, so that's kinda cool. 

Episode discussing! It will be short I promise, but since there are only 6 episodes it's not too much to talk about.

Season 1, episode 1:

Great beginning. We get to know each character a bit better, in the beginning you may still think that it's only about a few random kids that did bad stuff but then when the lightning hits, things are starting to change! I'm glad this went that quickly or else I might have stopped watching. Great episode with a proper introduction to each character, we know what we can expect from them which is kinda good. We also immediately know that it's not just a show about random kids doing bad stuff, it's about some young folks with superpowers. Also, there's a lot happening which brings a good story for the rest of the season.

Season 1, episode 2: 

We now learn that the five young folks are not the only people who gained superpowers because of the storm. We also learn that these superpowers can be very big, but also very small and useless, for example, a man starts to think that he's a Jack Russell. I thought that was very original. Overall not a very interesting episode, but it was a funny one.

Season 1, episode 3: 

A lot of improvement in the case of this season, the dead body of their probation worker is almost being found so they search for a solution. Again, not a very interesting episode, but again it was a funny one.

Season 1, episode 4: 

Very good episode. Curtis rewinds time so he can make up for all his mistakes, but this has some serious consequences. Again, spoilers! Anyway, when he made up for one mistake, another one was being made. I thought it was brilliant that they all died when he was free, so clever because he saved them all the first time, so it's only logical that they didn't die. 

Season 1, episode 5:

A Simon involving episode, yay! Man, how sorry can I feel for this boy. I think that Iwan Rheon is an excellent (and if I may say, a very attractive) man. It was a very good episode which taught us a lot about Simon and his feelings, we also learn that you don't want to mess with him! But in all seriousness, I really liked this episode.

Season 1, episode 6:

Best episode this far. Nathan becomes a hero, sort of. It was an amazing episode with a lot of happenings. Also a mystery man shows up! Can't say a whole lot about this episode, besides that I loved it.

"We had it all, we fucked up bigger and better than any generation that came before us!"

As you may notice, I became quite a big fan of Misfits. It was absolutely not what I expected from it and that's what made it so great. I really like it and I recommend watching it!

Can't wait until I can watch season 3 tomorrow. And expect a review about season 2 too one of these days.

Review: The ABC's of Death (2012)

Look what appeared on Netflix yesterday! I've wanted to watch this movie for such a long time already, but I never got around watching it. I've heard good things about this movie and bad things. 

The ABC's of Death are 26 segments with a death cause for every letter. It was not really what I hoped for though, I hoped that we'd see some awesome horror deaths and that each letter would represent some awesome creature, for example, Z for Zombie, V for Vampire etc. Unfortunately it were some random death causes rather than specific ones.

What did I think about it myself? I'm not really sure, some segments were really good and some were terribly bad. I think most of them were quite bad to be honest.

As I already said, there are 26 segments in this movie. They are very differs and have no connection at all with each other, that's what makes it fun to discuss them all!

A is for Apocalypse:

This was what the movie starts with and it pretty much gave me a huge 'WTF-feeling'. This could have been a really good segment if it actually contained an apocalypse, but instead we see a woman stabbing a man, which goes kinda wrong and afterwards you see that there's a bright red lightning nearing the window, which apparently is supposed to look like the apocalypse has started. Not really a good one.

B is for Bigfoot

Not a bad segment, but it took awhile for me to realize what the name Bigfoot was good for. If you think about it, the people are telling about a mexican snowman, which could have been bigfoot. Since he's also a sort of Snowman.

C is for Cycle

This segment reminded me so much of the movie Triangle. I really love those cycle movies because they are so difficult to understand but eventually there will always be a part that can't be right compared with the rest. Good segment.

D is for Dogfight

This was definitely my favorite segment. It was filmed amazingly, even the scenes with the dog were frightening. And then when the dog realizes who the guy is, he turns around and attacks his new boss. It was shown perfectly, and the emotions were really well shown, from dog and human. Beautiful story too.

My rate: 9/10

E is for Exterminate

Exterminate was a reasonable segment. It was not very interesting, but it was definitely not bad either. The little spiders crawling out of the man's ear was very frightening.

F is for Fart

Well here is were the weird stuff starts, and of course it's from Japan. A girl loves farts and right before she dies she sniffs the farts of her teacher so the room is filled with yellow fart and then she is sucked into the teacher's bum where it's also filled with fart. Yeah....

My rate: 3/10

G is for Gravity

I did not really got what happened in this segment. It was over quite fast and nothing really happened. I searched for it on wikipedia and now I get what happened. I don't think it was a good segment, but this is mainly because I had no idea what the purpose of this one was. If it was shown a bit better I might have liked it a lot better

H is for Hydro-Electric Diffusion

Another weird one, Nazi-dogs and British dog pilots. Absolutely too weird to discuss.

I is for Ingrown
Well, I literally don't have an idea of what was happening in this segment. A girl in a bathtub and a dude with a needle. She has a lot of itches and dies. A bit weird but it was filmed in a very interesting way.
My rate: 4,5/10

J is for Jidai-geki (Samurai Movie)
When a letter is too difficult to make a segment with, the directors and writers are cheating a bit. As you can see with this one, it is a reference to something with another meaning. Cheaters! Anyway, this segment was a rather strange one too. But what I mainly notice in this movie is that all the really weird segments are all Asian. This segment is about a Japanese guy who is making ridiculous facial expressions right before his head is being chopped off. The meaning behind this? You tell me...

K is for Klutz
Basically it's about poo missing his owner who just shat him out. It's the first animation and well, that's probably the only thing special about it.
My rate: 3/10

L is for Libido
Libido is definitely a very strange segment, it's gross and kinda sick. But the story was powerful, and definitely one to remember, again, in a sick way. And of course, made by an asian guy. This segment would have fitted perfectly in A Serbian Film, that should say enough huh? Basically, it's a 'fapping-contest', where in every stage two guys need to masturbate to something on the stage. When they "finish" last, they will be killed. Every stage is being made more difficult. For example, the first few rounds include a few attractive woman, while the eleventh round includes a sick girl who is "enjoying" herself with a fake leg. And the twelfth round includes something way sicker than that, yes indeed, a little boy being molested by a fat dude. You don't actually see this (of course), but the idea behind is should be enough to make you sick. And then the next stage, having sex while the guy is being attacked by a chainsaw. You now understand why this segment would be perfect for A Serbian Film?

M is for Miscarriage
A very short segment, but also quite a powerful one. There's a toilet that refuses to flush, a girl who searches for a plunger and afterwards there's a shot of what's inside the toilet: A lot of blood. Of course, your first thought would be that the girl is on her period or something, but afterwards you realize it's indeed a dead fetus. I quite liked this one.

N is for Nuptials
I loved this segment. It's about a guy who makes a parrot talk and let's the parrot ask the girl to marry him. All very sweet and stuff, but afterwards the parrot keeps talking and reveals some rather interesting things about his affair. It was quite hilarious.
My rate: 8/10

O is for Orgasm
Sex and bubbles, that's what this segment is about and it that was rather boring.
My rate: 2/10

P is for Pressure
Another powerful segment. A mother is forced to prostitute herself to take care of her and her three children, then her money is stolen and she needs to do something way more awful to get the money.
There's not a word being said in this segment, but it sure was clear and very powerful.
My rate: 8/10

Q is for Quack
Not sure what to think about this one. It's being shown as if people are really arguing about what to make with the letter 'Q'. Then they decide to kill and duck (quack), everyone cares way more about this duck and that's being down quite cleverly, because eventually they killed each other instead of the duck.
 My rate: 6/10

R is for Removed
I really don't get what the purpose of this one was. Guy is in a hospital, he is being photographed, gets a bullet removed, gets aggressive and pushes a train which makes it rain blood. Yeah, that's about it and that does not create an amazing segment in my opinion. It was filmed really awesome, but unfortunately that's about it.

S is for Speed
A decent segment. The story itself was not very interesting and seemed a lot like a combination between Death Proof and The Bold and the Beautiful. But the meaning behind the segment was done rather well. I liked the switch at the end.

T is for Toilet
Toilet was more a funny segment because it was made with Clay. And not in a cool Wallace & Gromit way, but more in a very bad way. The bad animations made it quite funny and the story itself was quite funny too.

U is for Unleashed
Ah, a vampire one! We unfortunately never saw this vampires because we saw everything through his eyes. It was made really awesome, but not a whole lot happened.

V is for Vagitus
Yeah, another one that's too weird to discuss. I have no idea what was happening.

W is for WTF!
A very weak and annoying attempt at making a segment.
My rate: 1/10

X is for XXL
I loved this one, it was a very good view on society, where it's often that women are being 'pushed' to be beautiful. This is mainly because of the false and fake advertising of photoshopped models and this is exactly what happened with this woman. The woman was being called fat and she wants to be skinny because everything around her says her to be. At that point she cuts off half of her bodyfat.
Super powerful and very true in an extreme way. We also see a familiar face which is Ivan Gonzalez from The Divide. Not so strange because The Divide was created by the same guy who developed XXL.

Y is for Youngbuck
Good segment, very good casting and a good short story.

Z is for Zetsumetsu
Yeah again, japanese segment. Too weird to discuss, so I won't attempt it.
My rate: 3/10

I searched all the directors of the segments on IMDB and I don't knew a whole lot. There were only 4 directors from which I've seen other work. These movies included The Divide, Hobo With a Shotgun, some of the segments of VHS and A Serbian Film. It's funny because I made a comparison with A Serbian Film with the segment Libido, but strangely enough that was not the one created by the same director. He created Remove.

Overall, The ABC's of Death is a strange movie. It has some really good segments but mostly it's crap. It's more a movie to make fun of when you're drunk (and that's exactly what I did the second time I watched it).

Is it worth a watch? Well, like I said, some segments are but the other ones are very hard to watch because they are so weird and mostly boring. In a sober condition it's quite a difficult and boring movie to watch. It was definitely not what I expected from this movie and afterwards I was quite disappointed by it.
