Review: The Road (2009)

The Road
IMDB rate: 7,3

I found this an amazing movie, which is kinda terrifying and touching at the same time. Nobody in the movie haves a name, even when you search for it, the actors will be named as 'the boy' or 'man'. Man is  played by Viggo Mortensen, and the boy is played by Kodi Smit-Mcphee, these were the main characters of the movie. Both played their roles very well.

Man and the boy are walking through a burned world, filled with ash and with no sun shining through. They are in search of food while they keep walking towards the sea. While they are walking, they need to be careful for cannibals that are even more desperate for food. They see a lot of terrifying things but they keep holding on. I won't give out any spoilers, because that will probably ruin the movie, but I definitely recommend this movie!

I haven't read the book yet, but I will definitely buy it when I come across it, quite curious because many people think the book is way better and the movie is kinda disappointing compared to the book. Anyway, this movie is absolutely for people who are interested in apocalyptic genres with a bit of horror/thriller. I was quite impressed by it and I definitely recommend this one. Don't watch this if you don't like dark and sad movies.

My personal rate: 8/10

Book addings

Bought a few new books today, haven't bought a lot of books recently, but they were very cheap, so can't wait to read them :). I'll probably make a post about all my books, just like I did with the dvd's.

  • The Last Four Things - Paul Hoffman
  • Dead Until Dark - Charlaine Harris (True Blood series)
  • Living Dead in Dallas - Charlaine Harris (True Blood series)
  • Mystic River - Dennis Lehane

Addings and stuff

Bought three new movies today, Alone in The Dark, See No Evil and Domino. They aren't very good, but they were very cheap soooo, couldn't resist it :(. Might me addicted haha. Also, I've been looking for a job, so I can move out as quickly as possible :).
Short message, don't know what to write.

Addings to my DVD collection

A few addings :).

Pictures of Prague

First day, we walked through the center of Prague, but I didn't made a lot of pictures, because my camera was being an asshole. Also, I haven't edited any because of laziness.

Second day, the Lennon-wall. Dedicated to John Lennon of course, read about it in my previous post ;).

Few days later, in search of the abandoned amusement park. It wasn't here yet, but there was an metronome, and a line with a these shoes hanging on it. Had something mysterious :). We walked to the wrong park, and had to go up a really really long staircase (for nothing actually) but well, eventually we got were we wanted to be :).

The half abandoned amusement park 'Luna Park', definitely worth going to if you're interested in these abandoned places. (Although it was not really abandoned, it had a creepy mysterious atmosphere)

(The most disappointing sandwich I've ever eaten)

My week in Prague

So I'm back from my week in Prague! It was truly amazing! We went to see the city the first day, although we both went there a few years before, it was still amazing to see everything. It is a beautiful city that contains a lot of history. My camera lens was broken after a few weeks so not many pictures where taken unfortunately :(.

Anyway, the second day we went to see the 'Lennon-wall' what used to be a wall with many John Lennon quotes as a protest against Communism many years ago. Unfortunately there is not many left of the original graffiti, 'cause almost everything is painted over with new (non-John Lennon related) graffiti. Anyway, it was still beautiful to see, 'cause the colorful wall is an extreme contrast against Prague in my opinion.

A few days later we went to a sort of Amusement park, what contained a really strange atmosphere. I was called 'Luna Park' and it was not really abandoned, but also not well visited. It contained a roller coaster and a few other rides, but they all looked not safe so we didn't get in anything. Anyway, there where a few people to operate the attractions and stuff, but that was about it. Nobody else was walking in the park except for us. We walked a bit further behind a lot of trees and there where all remainings of old attractions, which was kinda cool and creepy to see. I loved the atmosphere in the park, 'cause it was so lost and sort of abandoned.

We did a lot of other things too, but this were a bit the main things. Also, we got a fine of 1600 CZK for not having the right tram ticket :( bit of a waste of money but ok.
I will post some pictures this week, not really in the mood to pick the nicest ones for putting here.

This is it for now :)!
